Zero stress, zero secrets, zero “what do I do now?”
Renting a car for the first time is like driving for the first time: you kind of know how it works, but you still have a hundred questions. This guide is here to walk you through the entire process — from booking to returning the car — without feeling like you’re taking your driving test.
1. Booking — before you sign anything
It all starts with choosing a car.
Here’s what to consider:
- City driving = A/B segment,
- Long trips = something bigger, C or D segment,
- Mountains, winter trips, family outings = SUV,
- Lots of luggage = station wagon,
- Peace of mind = automatic transmission.
Also, pay attention to:
- mileage (sometimes limited, sometimes unlimited),
- fuel policy,
- insurance (sometimes it’s worth it — really, it saves stress).
Pro tip:
If you want a specific model (e.g., a Toyota Corolla with automatic), book as early as possible — especially on weekends, holidays, and during peak season.
2. Documents — what you need to have with you
We can’t start without these three things:
- Driving licence (valid and legible, not broken in half).
- ID card or passport.
- Payment card (in the renter’s name — not your husband’s credit card…).
No extra certificates needed. Seriously, that’s it.
You don’t need a tax form, your cat’s birth certificate, or any other nonsense…
Just the basics.
3. Payment — how and when you can pay
You have two options:
- Online payment when making the reservation,
- Payment on-site when picking up the car (card or BLIK/terminal).
Yes, debit cards work too. Nothing more complicated than that.
4. Deposit — how it works and when it’s returned
Deposit = a hold on your funds, not a charge.
It’s a security for the rental period in case something happens to the car.
The amount depends on the car class.
When is it returned?
- Within 3 days, and most often the same night after the car is returned, if everything is fine.
- If the bank delays, that’s on their system, not the rental company.
It’s not an extra fee — just a temporary “hey, we’re keeping an eye on the car.”
Some people think the deposit disappears into space and we spend it on coffee. Nope.
The myth that it takes 30 days? You can throw that out — we’re not in the Ice Age.
5. Picking up the car — look carefully
When picking up the car, we do a full inspection together, checking:
- scratches, dents, damage,
- wheels/rims (a classic thing people forget),
- tyre condition,
- fuel level,
- mileage,
- lights and indicators.
Everything on the car is recorded in the handover report. This protects both you and us.
You can also take photos for yourself — it’s a good practice.
Then you get the keys… and off you go.
Pro tip: if you notice anything, report it immediately — better to ask now than explain later that “it was already there.”
6. Driving — rules during the rental
Nothing complicated:
- Fill up the tank the same way you received it (full to full).
- Don’t carry anything that would turn the car into a construction site.
- Treat the car normally, like it’s yours. You don’t need to kiss it for goodnight, but don’t harm it.
- If a warning light comes on — call us immediately, and we’ll advise you what to do.
7. Returning the car — the final step, stress-free
When returning the car, just like at pick-up, we check:
- exterior condition,
- fuel level,
- interior cleanliness,
- return time — because in most rental companies, exceeding the 24-hour period, even by an hour, counts as a new day.
What is not normal:
- dog hair like it just survived a harsh grooming,
- traces of a techno party,
- a tyre damaged by a “curb demon.”
We’re really not looking for a needle in a tyre.
The inspection is quick and only aims to make sure everything is returned as it was.
8. Most common mistakes first-time renters make
So you don’t have to learn from other people’s mistakes:
❌ Picking up the car at the last minute before an important meeting
✔️ Pick up with extra time — the contract and inspection only take a few minutes
❌ Returning the car with a “nearly empty” tank
✔️ Fill up before returning — there’s always a gas station nearby
❌ Ignoring a warning light
✔️ A quick call = a quick solution
❌ Trying to fix or clean the car yourself
✔️ If something happens — leave it to us
9. Summary — keeping it simple
Renting a car isn’t complicated.
Do you have your documents?
Do you have a card?
Do you know what car you want to drive?
The rental company takes care of the rest.
It’s meant to be convenient, fast, and stress-free — and that’s exactly how the whole process works 🚗💚
